Fun Questions
What are a few fun facts about yourself that will surprise others?
I may have won a few Rodeo trophies and ribbons.
I made my driving debut at age 7 on a John Deere tractor.
I walk 30 miles one weekend every year to raise money to support breast cancer survivors.
What is your favorite bible story?
Joshua. All of chapter 3. I love the fact that the priest carrying the covenant had to first step into the raging waters of the Jordan before God parted the Jordan. My personal theme is “God show me the water. I’m ready to put my feet in and watch what you can do with my simple efforts.”
Executive Director Nancy Peterman
Nancy married Kent and blended their families in 2000. She came into her marriage with two girls, Lindsey, age 12 and Olivia, age 8. Kent came into the marriage with Tyler, age 10. They raised the children together and formed a strong family unit. They attended a methodist church in downtown Snellville semi regularly. Olivia originally inspired them to move churches. She asked her parents to let her go to Grace because she heard it was a fun church and had great kid activities. They began to attend Grace Snellville and have never left the Grace Family of Churches.
Fast forward to 2016, all of kids are grown and out on their own. Nancy & Kent were settling into a new season of being prime care givers for their aging mothers. She felt led to serve God individually in a ministry but was unsure what that may look like.
They were attending Grace New Hope when she received a call requesting that she lead a KidzLife group of 2nd grade girls. She accepted the request and as they say ‘the rest is history.’
They sold their home in Snellville in March of 2020 during the world wide pandemic & retired from work in August of that same year and was diagnosed with breast cancer in September. Fast forward to July of 2022, she is fully recovered from cancer and they began to attend Grace Lanier.
She began by volunteering in the children’s ministry & began to bring home tubs of supplies to organize and sort to better serve our needs.
One Tuesday morning she wrote the following in her journal:
“Lord I am ready to put my feet in the water, please show me my water.”
She says, “I closed out my prayer time and opened my email. The first email was from Savannah Lopez asking if I would consider a part time administrative assistant position at Grace Lanier. And the history…continues to be written.”
She accepted the administrative assistant role which grew to the executive director role.
She says, “I love each and every one of the members of the staff and the members of Grace Lanier. I enjoy watching us grow and doing my part to help us grow and expand.”
